The AONSA newsletter has the latest news from around the region, with updates from facilities and user groups. The September 2025 edition, which is partial and advanced for the year-end edition, is now available for download here:

It includes the announcements of the AONSA Young Research Fellow 2025, Report on the Attendance at ICNS 2025 and research highlights from the community.

The cover of the September 2025 edition features the group photo of the ICNS 2025 held at the Bella Center, Copenhagen, Denmark, on July 6-10, 2025.

Dr. Yung-Hsiang Tung (National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center, Taiwan) and Dr. Zhu Li (City Univ. of Hong Kong, China) are selected as the awardee of the AONSA Young Research Fellowship 2025.

Dr. Tung will be hosted by ANSTO and work on the instruments: SIKA, Wombat, Echidna, and Pelican.

Dr. Li will be hosted by J-PARC and work on BL19-TAKUMI and BL14-AMATERAS.

The 13th AONSA Neutron School was held on 24-28 November 2024 at the Bhabha Atonic Research Center in Mumbai, India.

Applications to the AONSA Young Rearch Fellowship is open to any young scientist in the Asia-Oceania region within 8 years of the completion of their PhD and who wishes to perform neutron research at major neutron facilities in the region (but not in their home country). Provisional hosting Neutron Facilities in 2025 are ANSTO(Australia), CARR(China), CSNS(China), J-PARC(Japan), and IBR-2 (Russia).

Applications deadline: 15th of September, 2024.

“The purpose of the Asia-Oceania Neutron Scattering Association (AONSA) Young Research Fellowship Program is to support highly talented young scientists with leadership potential in the Asia-Oceania region, helping them to develop their career and expertise in neutron science and technology. The Program will provide financial support for Fellows to visit major neutron facilities in the region for collaborative research using neutrons.”
